How to show or hide folders and applications in the Windows 10

When you click the Start button in Windows 10, you will see that the interface is divided into three separate sections: the small buttons on the left, the list of applications and programs in the middle, and the static or dynamic boxes on the right.

You can customize many things about the appearance of the Start menu, including the list of folders or links that appear in the menu on the left. By default, you’ll see items like Settings, Power, Network, Downloads, and more.

In this article, I will show you how to customize the icons that appear in the Start menu.

If you’re looking for a way to hide or remove applications from the Windows Start menu that appear in the list of all programs, scroll down to the section titled “Remove Applications from the Start Menu.”

Show / Hide folders in the Start menu

To get started, go ahead and click Start and then Configuration, which is the gear icon.

Then click Customization.

Then click Start on the left menu, and then you’ll see all the settings to customize the Start menu.

Just to mention a few things while we’re here, if you turn it off Displays the list of applications in the Start menu option, it will remove this central section that we talked about earlier (the list of programs and applications).

Recently added applications it will show you the programs you recently installed at the top of the list. To Show the most used applications, will show your most-accessed applications below the recently added applications.

If you want to hide recently opened files in the right-click menu on taskbar icons, be sure to turn off Displays recently opened items in the jump lists in Start or on the taskbar option.

Finally, at the bottom, is what we are looking for. Click the button Choose which folders appear in Start link. Microsoft likes to call these item folders, but links or shortcuts seem more sensible to me.

Here you can enable or disable a list of predefined folders / links that will appear in Home. As an example, if you turn it all on, you’ll see that the list goes on in the Start menu.

That’s all there is to it. If you wanted to add or remove apps from the Start menu instead of these icons, you have to try something different.

To delete an application from the list of applications in the Start menu without uninstalling the program, just right-click on it and choose Month and then choose Open the file location.

This will take you to the System Programs folder on the Windows Start menu. Here you will see a list of all the folders and shortcuts that appear in the start menu itself.

To delete an item from the list, simply delete it. Here you can also create your own folders and add your shortcuts or links. If you want to add a shortcut, create it on the desktop by right-clicking on a file and choosing Send toDesktop (create shortcut).

Then just drag this shortcut to this folder and it will appear in the Start menu. You should also have no problems adding or deleting items from this folder.
