Google Play Store not downloading or updating apps? 11 ways to fix it

Google Play Store is the safest and fastest medium install apps on Android devices. All Android users know how to use the Play Store, but not everyone knows what to do when the store goes sideways.

If the Play Store does not download or upload apps to your device, see the following solutions to resolve the issue. Before anything else, cancel the downloads and try again. Closing and reopening the Play Store can also solve the problem.

1. Check your internet connection

You need a strong Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to download Play Store apps. Do it applications get stuck in the “pending download” stage when you tap the Install or Update button? 6. Reset the download manager

Google Play Store downloads apps to your device using the Android Download Manager. You cannot install or update applications if this built-in download program is disabled or not working properly. Resetting the Download Manager can help resolve Play Store download errors. Follow the steps below to do so.

1. Go to Configuration > Application information (o See all applications) and tap the three-point menu icon in the upper right.

2. Select Show system.

3. Scroll through the apps and tap Download Manager.

4. Select Storage and cache.

6. Tap Clear cache i Clear storage.

7. Tap OK to the confirmation request to continue.

Start the Play Store and see if you can now download and update apps.

7. Reset Google Play services

Google Play Services is a basic Android system that powers all of Google’s apps and services. If you’re having trouble downloading apps to the Play Store and everything you’ve tried is aborted, resetting your Google Play services cache could put things back in order.

Go to Configuration > Applications and notifications > Application information (o See all applications) > Google Play Services and tap Clear cache. Then tap the button Clear storage and select Delete all data on the next page.

Your device will download some system applications needed to run Google Play services. When setup is complete, open the Play Store and see if resetting Google Play has resolved the issue.

8. Uninstall Play Store updates

Android automatically updates Google Play Store in the background. While some of these updates are error-free, others are sometimes included with bugs that cause performance issues. Reversing the Play Store to the factory defaults can eliminate these errors and restore the normality of the store.

1. Touch and hold the Play Store app icon and tap the button info icon (s).

2. Tap the three-point menu icon.

3. Select Uninstall updates.

Then you need to upgrade your Google Play Store to the latest version. Start Play Store, tap the menu icon, and go to Configuration > Play Store version.

The device will download and install the latest version of the Google Play Store in the background.

9. Restart the device

Cycling your device is another troubleshooting technique worth trying when Google Play Store doesn’t download. Hold down the power button and tap Restart about power options.

Connect to a strong Wi-Fi or mobile data connection and try the download again.

10. Update the device

Installing the latest Android update can fix issues that prevent the Play Store from processing app downloads and updates. Go to Configuration > System > Advanced > System update to check for a software update available for your device.

11. Add your Google Account again

This means logging out of your Google Account and logging back in. While this may resolve the issue with the Play Store, please note that deleting your account may delete some data (contacts, messages, calendar events, etc.) that you’ve synced to your Google Account. Therefore, it is important that you back up your Android device so that you do not lose any unsynced information.

To sign out of your Google Account, go to Configuration > Accounts and select the Google Account connected to the Play Store. Then click Delete account to disconnect the account from the device.
