Does Spotify not play songs? 11 ways to fix it

Nothing causes a stop call to a jam session as if Spotify stopped. Spotify is the most important streaming service on the market today, but when you stop playing songs and you don’t know why, it ruins your music significantly.

If Spotify doesn’t play songs, there are several steps you can take and things you can try to straighten the flow and restore your audio happiness. These steps start with the simplest options and end with the most advanced steps.

1. Check the status of Spotify

Given the size of Spotify as an app, problems are likely to arise. When you encounter a problem with your music, check the status of Spotify on your Twitter account @SpotifyStatus or through a service like Downdetector to see if it is a systemic problem.

2. Restart Spotify

“Turn it off and on again” works for almost anything, including music streaming services. Close Spotify completely and restart it before trying to play more songs. If you’re using Windows, make sure Spotify shuts down completely by completing the process in the task manager. This can solve many problems with Spotify encounters.

3. Make sure you have enough storage

Spotify recommends a minimum of 250 MB of free storage to ensure proper streaming of songs through the service. If the drive is almost full and Spotify is not playing songs, delete some photos or delete one or two apps, then try Spotify.

4. Log in again

7. Disable hardware acceleration

Disabling this feature can ensure a better Spotify experience. Go to Spotify on a Mac or File in Windows and click Hardware acceleration from the menu. Make sure the settings are turned off, then try listening to your favorite songs.

8. Make sure Spotify is in online mode
